Friends of Lanchester

Thank you to the Friends of Lanchester for all your continued support. As a school we benefit from all your hard work and efforts. The funds raised have already purchased playground equipment, extra reading books, sports equipment, guitars and much more. If you have not had any involvement in the FoL there is never a better time than the present. With one of the biggest events about to occur: The Christmas Fayre, FoL need your support and so does Lanchester CFS. If you have any questions on how you can support please speak with Claire Masini or Yvonne Holdsworth.

Drama Afternoon - The children became explorers for the afternoon and were taken on an adventure to Australia to find a boomerang! They had so much fun!

We had lots of fun today for Diwali including food tasting, making cards and creating Rangoli Patterns. A big thank you to the parent volunteers for your extra hard work to make it a great afternoon for us!

Today we had lots of fun learning to play different rhythms using the African drums.

Toy Workshop

Today we had a visit from the toy museum. The children had the opportunity to play with old Victorian toys including a Noah's Ark and moving toys. They compared old toys with new toys and discussed the differences between them including materials.

Thank you to our wonderful PTA for coming in and making fantastic Christmas Cards with us!

International Week - A parent kindly volunteered to come and talk to us about India.

We had lots of fun making old photos!

Enjoying our PE lesson with the tennis coach in the sunshine.

We had lots of fun learning how to dance around the MayPole to support our topic of 'stepping back in time' and looking at the leisure during the Victorian Era.

Elephant Junior Leadership Class (JLT) Representatives.

Congratulations to our new JLT class representatives, Amalia and Ryan. Elephant class all had the opportunity to nominate themselves if they felt they would be a good member for the JLT. The class then all voted for the girl and boy who they thought would best suit this role after hearing their reasons. We look forward to hearing all about their contributions to the team.

Visit from Pilot Tracey.

This week Elephant class had the opportunity to meet a very inspirational lady - Tracey Taylor. She is a British aviator who is renowned for re-creating the solo exploits of Amy Johnson. She spoke to the children about her adventures as a Biplane pilot (a plane with 2 sets of wings.) The children really enjoyed this experience and were very keen to share their new knowledge about her!

You can learn more about her on her website:

Welcome back Year One!

Welcome back to a new year in Year 1! I hope you all had a lovely summer and a good rest and are now ready for the new academic year.  I am extremely excited to get to know all of the pupils and parents of Elephant class. I am looking forward to working together so that we have a very exciting and productive year. I have started to get an insight to all pupils over the first week with them and am starting to identify all of their individual personalities and characteristics. They are settling in well to Year 1 and are starting to get used to the new routines and expectations.

I am looking forward to a fun filled year with a class of hardworking and dedicated children and hope all pupils are excited for the new challenges!
