Over our half term we have been working hard to settle into Year 2.
We have been using our flight topic as inspiration for our English lessons and have been writing instructions, chronological reports and stories.
In Maths we have been practicing our number bonds and our place values before moving on to Addition & Subtraction topics.
We started off our Inquiry lessons with our exciting History of Flight topic learning all about the pioneers who made it possible for us to fly. From the Montgolfier Brothers to the Wright Brothers, the amazing Amy johnson and finally to Neil Armstrong who reached out across space to land on the moon.
We have also been looking at the Science of Flight and creating our own investigations to practice our scientific skills.
We hope you have all had a lovely, restful half term and are ready for the action packed new term! We will be really busy learning all about London in the 17th Century and the Gunpowder plot in our Inquiry lessons. We will then be using that information to create recounts in English. In Maths we are moving on to the world of money! We will learn to recognise each coin, add them together and begin to give out change from notes. In Science we will be looking more closely at the habitats of animals on a micro, local and global scale. As always we will have lots of christmas themed activities closer towards the end of half term.
